A solution for the construction and manufacturing industries that uses AI to streamline 2D drawing and 3D model design
Summary:
WOGO has combined its own 3D technology with AI-driven automation and, working together with the consulting firm renue Inc., has begun offering a new solution. The manufacturing and construction industries need efficient design and development built on 3D modeling, yet they face a shortage of people with the necessary expertise and are slow to catch up with the technology. On top of that, the general-purpose CAD software most companies use is not optimised for individual use cases, which leads to inefficient design processes. Against that background, WOGO developed technology that uses AI to automate and streamline the design of both 2D drawings and 3D models.

This project has been carried out in partnership with renue since the beginning of 2024. Field trials conducted with the cooperation of on-site teams confirmed its usefulness, and it has since launched as a service in the field, where it is beginning to deliver concrete results.
For simple drawing processing in particular, work that used to take one to two days can now be completed in a matter of minutes, dramatically shortening design time. The solution also contributes to greater efficiency across a variety of use cases, including the fully automated generation of architectural designs.
Story:
renue handles the on-site interviews when the service is introduced, collecting and analysing past 3D models and drawings. WOGO then tunes a base model from that data and develops a tool, accurate to the millimetre, that automatically generates the 2D drawings and 3D CAD data best suited to each company. WOGO also repurposes the 2D and 3D data editing platform and the know-how built up through the development of its own 3D scanning and editing app WIDAR, to provide editing and design tools customised to the client’s products.
The project applies a new framework for 3D modeling, which WOGO is researching and developing, to the manufacturing and construction industries. Called parametric modeling, it expresses 3D models mathematically, representing product geometry while preserving the dependencies between parts. Design changes and product customisation can therefore be driven entirely from code, dramatically shortening the product design cycle. As data accumulates, it also opens the possibility of generative AI automatically designing products in patterns that have never existed before.
