Who We Are

Who We Are

WOGO is a startup born out of the Department of Information and Communication Engineering at the University of Tokyo.
Our strength is advanced technology that fuses computational geometry algorithms with AI, and we use it to drive the manufacturing industry forward.

What we do

What We Do

1. R&D in 3D geometry algorithms and AI

We have built a proprietary technology base in 3D × AI, including a 3D scanning algorithm used by more than a million people and the world's first software for automatic 2D-to-3D conversion. We keep pushing into new territory, aiming to create technology and products that are both best in the world and found nowhere else.

2. Redefining the design and development process in manufacturing

Our geometry processing technology is the core layer that connects the physical world to digital data. With proprietary 3D × AI at its heart, we are rebuilding the design and development process in manufacturing from the ground up, and we intend to automate and streamline it within the next five years.

Why we are here

Why We Are Here

Manufacturing floors face structural problems: expertise locked away as tacit knowledge, a shrinking workforce,
and information still trapped on paper or scattered across disconnected systems.
With global competition intensifying and generative AI advancing fast, change can no longer wait.
We are building end-to-end automation across the manufacturing process
so that high-quality manufacturing stays competitive worldwide for the long term.

Our vision

for the smart factory that turns
an idea into reality instantly.

Our values

Our Values

To reach the future by the shortest route,
we hold to five values.

Question the essence, then lead

Get to the root of the problem and the technology,
then guide the team and the customer the right way

Put your soul into it

Own what you ship, and see it
all the way through

Be Right

Hold to integrity and decency,
whatever the situation

make change happen

Never fear the unknown

Take on new challenges and technical uncertainty, and grow from them

Frequently Asked Questions

WOGO is a University of Tokyo startup founded by graduates of the university's Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems. The founding members researched 3D and AI at the university, and our strength lies in reading the geometry of 3D CAD models and 2D drawings precisely using AI and our own algorithms. Around 30 engineers work here today, most of them University of Tokyo alumni with expertise in fields such as computational geometry, rendering and image processing.

No. WOGO does not provide CAD in the general sense of the word. We specialize in automating design work and in turning engineers' knowledge into systems, either as add-ins layered onto existing CAD or by answering needs that existing CAD does not reach. As a University of Tokyo deep-tech startup, our focus is the automation layer around CAD rather than CAD itself.

The biggest difference is that WOGO has its own algorithm-based geometry analysis technology in addition to AI. This algorithmic processing makes strict geometry recognition possible in a way that AI alone cannot achieve, and that is the source of our technical differentiation.

WOGO's core strength is CAD geometry recognition that combines state-of-the-art AI with strict geometry-processing algorithms. Pairing AI-based interpretation with exact algorithmic geometry processing lets us capture the shapes in CAD data accurately.

Our 3D × AI technology combines algorithms that recognize and process the geometry of CAD models and drawings strictly with advanced semantic interpretation of that geometry using AI. It does not only capture shapes accurately; it also handles what those shapes mean in design terms.

Domain modeling is WOGO's own mechanism for holding design data. Unlike conventional CAD formats such as STEP or B-Rep data, which hold shape as a set of points, lines and faces, we define our own data structure that can also carry every manufacturing property, including material, strength and shape.

WOGO has delivered services built on frontier technology ahead of the market in Japan and worldwide, including WIDAR, a smartphone 3D scanning app with more than one million users, and VPal, an AI × 3D character chat app. Our work has also been featured at Apple WWDC. We consistently aim to be first in Japan with the technologies we build.

Our team brings together people with strikingly varied backgrounds. They include a product designer from Silicon Valley, doctoral researchers in fields such as quantum computing, architecture and VR, winners of competitive programming contests, and CG artists and UI/UX design leads from well-known overseas game studios. Members who have moved on from WOGO have gone to leading technology companies such as Google, Preferred Networks and Sony.

Yes. Professor Emeritus Kiyoharu Aizawa of the University of Tokyo serves as our advisor. Professor Aizawa is one of Japan's foremost researchers in image processing and formerly served as director of the University of Tokyo Virtual Reality Educational Research Center.

We have patent applications pending for our design verification technology. They comprise a Japanese basic application (application number 2026-042509) and an international application (PCT/JP2026/017926).

The Hacadly series is offered as three broad product groups. The first is automated design verification, which automatically assesses whether a human-designed shape is correct and supports human judgement and checking. The second is automated 2D drafting and 3D design, which assists in generating drawings and CAD models. The third is the AI design platform, which unifies scattered information such as documents, specifications and inspection reports so that it can all be searched in one place.

Hacadly combines the word CAD with the Japanese word hakadoru, which means to make good progress. The name carries our wish to make CAD, and design and development in manufacturing, more automated and more convenient.

Yes, we take on custom development as well. Building on our own core technologies and libraries, we can develop and deliver a system separately, tailored to an individual customer.
