On Friday 10 July 2026, Jingchao Qin, CEO of WOGO Inc., gave a talk titled How Generative AI Will Change Design Work and the Timeline Manufacturers Should Prepare For, at the 530th regular meeting of the Kansai Engineering Administration Committee, held under the theme AI and Design. Design and design-management teams from a wide range of manufacturers joined both on site and online.
The talk explained why generative AI, which has already reached the very top tier of competitive programming, began automating work in software before other fields, and then set out the timeline on which that wave will reach design data such as CAD models, 3D geometry and 2D drawings. It also covered the structural weaknesses of generative AI, the role that therefore remains for designers, and the preparations manufacturers should begin now.
