WOGO Releases a Free List of 33 Basic Manufacturing-Limit Check Rules for Sheet Metal and Machined Parts

On September 15, 2026, WOGO Inc. published “Basic Manufacturing-Limit Check Rules”, a free resource setting out 33 basic manufacturing-limit (design verification) checks for sheet metal and machined (milled and turned) parts. It opens up, as a design checklist anyone can use whether or not they use the product, the basic items common to sheet metal and machining from the comprehensive set of verification checks WOGO has compiled with manufacturers and machining specialists across industries. The same rules, with concrete thresholds, are built into the Hacadly 3D Inspection automated verification software.
Within design verification, the criteria for manufacturability checks in particular sit as tacit knowledge with veteran designers and production engineers who know machining limits and equipment constraints inside out. Findings vary from person to person, training takes years, and an ageing, shrinking workforce is making that knowledge harder to hand on. Through discussions with customers and machining specialists, WOGO has organised the question of what to check before drawing release into a concrete list of items. The rule list was compiled in collaboration with A&M Consult Co., Ltd., a design verification consultancy, whose president Satoshi Nakayama was formerly a design engineer at Toyota Motor Corporation. Publishing 33 basic rules for sheet metal and machining from that standard set means they can be used directly for engineer training, for building in-house checklists, and for aligning expectations with machine shops and suppliers. Our aim is not only our own product development but raising the level of design quality across Japanese manufacturing as a whole.
The resource organises the checks by machining area: 18 for sheet metal, 9 for milling and 6 for turning. Each item states what it is there to prevent – hole distortion and tearing, cracking at bends, loss of accuracy, tool and die damage – so that designers and manufacturing teams review parts from the same point of view. These 33 items are the basic subset of that comprehensive set; assembly rules and company-specific items are not included.
